One of the Bahamian great limestone caves can be found on Grand Bahama. It is called the ‘Lucayan Cave’ and is the world’s longest known underwater cave. Hundreds of similar caves can be found throughout the Bahamas including hundreds of ‘Blue Holes’ that are as deep as 600 feet. Local legend would have you believe that they are the lairs of sea monsters and some people are afraid to go near them.
The diving experiences are extremely good. They vary from Civil War gun ships and rum-runners to boats and planes sunk intentionally for films. The coral reefs are reported to be teeming with life. You can dive with dolphins, porpoises and reef sharks and search for the forgotten ruins of Atlantis
